How to Create Your Referee Account in Refr Sports

We’re thrilled to have you join our platform. Built by a team of sports officials, Refr Sports is designed to make your life as a referee easier and more rewarding. With features like weekly payments, real-time notifications, and the freedom to access everything through our mobile app, we’re here to provide the best experience possible.

Step 1: Navigate to Our Sign-Up Page

Visit our site at Refr Sports. In the top-right corner, click Login, then select Sign Up. 

Step 2: Select “Referee Account”

On the account selection page, choose “Referee Account”.

If you’re not a referee, select the account type that best describes you. For help with other account types, check our support articles.

Step 3: Enter Your Information

Fill in your personal details, account information, and create a secure password! When you’re finished, click Continue.

Step 4: Confirm Your Email

Check your email inbox for a confirmation message from Refr Sports. Then click “Confirm Email” in the message to verify your account.

If you don’t see the email:

• Check your spam or junk folder.
• Wait 60 seconds, then request a new email.

Step 5: Log In

Congratulations on setting up your account and confirming your email! Now, go to the login page and enter the email and password you used during registration.

Step 6: Set Up Your Payout Information

To receive weekly payments, you’ll need to set up direct deposit through Stripe Connect, our secure payment processing partner.

• Access Your Profile: 
• On web, click your name in the top-right corner, then select Profile.
• On mobile, tap Profile in the bottom-right corner.
• Add Your Payout Method:

• Go to Payout Information and click “Add Payout Method”.
• Follow the instructions in Stripe Connect to securely set up your direct deposit.

Step 7: Pair with Your Assignor

To start receiving assignments, you’ll need to pair with your assignor. Follow these steps:

• Access the Assignors Section:
• On web, click your name in the top-right corner and select Assignors.
• On mobile, tap Profile in the bottom-right corner and select Assignors.
• Find Your Assignor:
• Click or tap the Find Assignors button in the top-right corner.
• Use the search bar to locate your assignor by their group name.

• If you don’t see them: Clear your filters by clicking or tapping Reset Filters. Try searching by their state or filtering by sport.
• Request to Pair with Your Assignor:
• Once you locate your assignor, click Apply next to their name.
• Wait for Approval:
• Your assignor will receive a notification of your request. Once they accept it, you’ll be paired and ready to start receiving assignments.

Once your assignor receives and approves your request, you’ll officially be paired and ready to start receiving assignments through Refr Sports.

Step 8: Add Additional Details to Your Profile

While this step isn’t required, completing it can significantly improve your chances of receiving more game assignments. We recommend focusing on three key areas:

• Fill Out Your About Section
• Go to your profile information and navigate to the About section.
• Add details about your sports officiating experience, such as:
• The sports and levels you’ve worked.
• Years of experience or any unique skills.
• This helps assignors and organizations learn more about you and increases your visibility on the platform.
• Add Certifications
• In your profile area, click on Certifications.
• Enter any national or state-level certifications you’ve earned. Examples include officiating licenses or advanced training credentials.
• Displaying your certifications can make you stand out as a qualified and experienced referee.
• Complete a Background Check (Optional but Recommended)
• While not mandatory, a background check can build trust with    assignors and sports organizations. Refr Sports partners with Yardstick, a secure and trusted background check provider. The cost is just $20.
• To start your background check:
• Ensure you’re on the web platform.
• Go to the Background Check section in your profile and click Go to Yardstick to complete the process.
• A completed background check adds a verified badge to your profile, making you more appealing to assignors and organizations.
